Estella is a girl, around the same age as Pip, the main character, who was adopted by Miss Havisham at the you age of three. Estella represents the something that you just can’t have. With this power, Estella is able to manipulate Pip. With the amount of love Pip has for her, she is able to control and hurt him with it. She is used as an object by Miss Havisham to torment and hurt men the same way she was once hurt on the day of her wedding. Estella finds out that living in the upper class doesn’t necessarily mean happiness. Rather than being raised by her father, who isn’t upper class but has much better morals, she is repeatedly treated bad by her peers of the upper class. She then marries with Drummle who also treats her very harshly. Instead she could have married Pip who would have treated her great and showed her real love. Estella may have been way better off it growing as a middle class girl than Miss Havishams tool for redemption, and although she was brought up to give pain to men, I still believe deep down in her heart, she was trying not to be what she was forced to be. Somewhere inside Estella is a kind hearted, sweet girl.
